SINCE 2012
SINCE 2012
Our founders built this organization with a simple belief: when we lift our community, we all rise together. Now, we’re growing a new generation of people who share that same commitment to giving back.
MiLand Canada Foundation is a community-based nonprofit organization supporting youth, newcomers, job seekers, employers, and families through employment readiness services, educational support initiatives, mentorship, and community partnership programs.
LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
MiLand Canada Foundation as Non-Profit Organization acknowledges that our work takes place on the traditional territories and treaty lands of many Indigenous Nations across Ontario. We recognize and honour the enduring presence, cultures, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples who have cared for these lands since time immemorial.
We are grateful for the opportunity to live, work, and serve communities on these lands and commit to learning from Indigenous peoples, respecting their histories and rights, and supporting the ongoing journey toward truth, reconciliation, and meaningful partnership.
We support individuals who are seeking employment by providing employment-related guidance and job readiness support. Our services are designed to help job seekers prepare for and navigate the hiring process.
We help clients assess their skills, experience, education, and career goals to identify job opportunities that best match their background. Our team provides guidance on career pathways, industry demand, and employment options that offer long-term stability and growth.
We support job seekers with completing job applications correctly and professionally. This includes understanding employer expectations, preparing strong responses, and building confidence for interviews through coaching, mock interviews, and communication tips.
We help individuals prepare for workplace success by improving professional communication, time management, workplace behavior, and job retention skills. Our goal is to ensure clients are ready not only to get hired, but also to succeed in their roles.
We provide personalized resume and cover letter support to ensure each client presents their experience effectively. We help tailor documents for specific roles, highlight transferable skills, and improve overall presentation to increase interview opportunities.
We support employers by providing employment-related administrative and hiring support. Employers remain the official hiring entities, and MiLand acts in a support and facilitation role.
We help employers understand their hiring needs and connect them with candidates whose skills, experience, and career goals align with available positions. This helps reduce hiring time and improves candidate quality.
We create strong connections between businesses and qualified job seekers by supporting introductions, referrals, and employment discussions. Our goal is to make the hiring process smoother for both employers and candidates.
We assist employers by helping prepare candidates for workplace expectations and supporting smoother onboarding experiences. This includes improving workforce readiness and helping reduce early turnover.
We help employers navigate employment-related support programs, workforce initiatives, and community partnerships. This may include information sharing, coordination support, and connecting employers with relevant hiring resources.
We support employment matching by facilitating connections based on skills, interests, and job requirements.
We carefully match job seekers with opportunities that fit their abilities, career goals, and employer needs. This improves long-term success for both the employee and the employer
We promote equitable hiring practices by supporting diverse job seekers and helping employers build inclusive workplaces. Our focus is on creating stronger communities through fair access to employment opportunities.
Intake & Assessment
Participants begin by completing an intake process where MiLand gathers information about their employment goals, educational background, work experience, interests, language abilities, and current support needs.
During the initial conversation, staff or volunteers may discuss barriers affecting employment or community participation, including limited work experience, newcomer adjustment, transportation concerns, confidence building, or access to educational resources.
Information collected during intake helps MiLand identify appropriate next steps, referrals, supports, and opportunities based on each participant’s situation.
Planning & Goal Development
After intake, MiLand works with participants to identify short-term and long-term goals related to employment, education, skills development, or community involvement.
Participants may receive guidance with resume preparation, interview readiness, volunteer opportunities, educational pathways, workplace expectations, or referrals to external community resources and training opportunities.
MiLand helps participants develop realistic action steps and encourages ongoing progress through goal-focused support and regular communication where appropriate.
Support & Community Connection
MiLand provides ongoing support through mentorship, workshops, employment readiness activities, community outreach, educational support initiatives, and employer or community partner connections.
Participants may receive support with communication skills, interview practice, workplace readiness, school supply assistance, leadership development, volunteer engagement, or navigating community services.
MiLand may also coordinate with employers, schools, community organizations, or referral partners to help participants access opportunities and strengthen community connections.
Follow-Up & Retention Support
MiLand recognizes that support may still be needed after a participant receives a referral, begins employment, joins a program, or participates in community activities.
Where appropriate, MiLand may conduct follow-up communication through phone calls, email check-ins, meetings, or community outreach to monitor progress and provide additional encouragement or guidance.
Follow-up support may focus on workplace adjustment, confidence building, ongoing participation, retention challenges, or connection to additional community and employment resources.
